Tom Curran

Biography

Tom Curran is the principal who leads Financial Advisor Talent Acquisition, the department responsible for attracting, sourcing, selecting and onboarding financial advisors. He is responsible for Talent Acquisition, Financial Advisor Career Development and the study team. He also leads the inclusion and diversity efforts in the field overseeing the recruiting and hiring of quality financial advisors to help meet the firm’s growth and diversity objectives and to influence the firm’s strategic direction. He is a member of the Management Committee, Performance Strategies Group and multiple Branch Development committees. Curran joined Edward Jones in 1992 as a financial advisor in Brighton, Mich. A year later, he relocated to Geneseo, Ill., where he remained for 12 years. He was named a limited partner in 1997. He served as a regional leader for four years, with responsibility for 80 branch teams in northwest Illinois. As his business grew, he brought in another financial advisor to help him better serve clients. In 2001, Curran participated in the Global Edward Jones Organization class, researching opportunities in additional foreign markets for the firm. In 2006, he was named a principal and relocated to the firm’s St. Louis headquarters, where he joined Financial Advisor Development as an area leader responsible for financial advisors in the Northeast. In 2009, he accepted the Banking Services global leader position. In 2010, he was asked to lead the Service division and joined the firm’s Management Committee. He accepted his current responsibilities in 2016. Curran earned a bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., and a master’s degree from the University of Iowa. In addition, he attended the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business in Pennsylvania and holds the AAMS® professional designation.
