Gary Davies

Biography

Gary’s first involvement in the event industry was touring shopping malls throughout Calgary and southern Alberta as a breakdancer in the mid-‘80s. It was also the peak of his career as a performer. Since then, Gary has spent the last 20 years helping to build companies. First, with RedPoint Media Group Inc. in Calgary, which would become the largest independent magazine publisher in Alberta, and then as President of Canada Wide Media in Vancouver, the largest independent magazine publisher in Western Canada. For the last two and a half years, Gary has served as a strategic consultant with e=mc² events, learning the ins and outs of the company and the event/conference industry as a whole. An active volunteer, Gary most recently served on the board of the Calgary International Film Festival and the communications committee for the United Way of Canada (Calgary Region). He previously served as President for both the Alberta Magazine Publishers Association and the British Columbia Association of Magazine Publishers, and on the board of the Western Magazine Awards Foundation. Gary looks forward to bringing his interest in volunteer work to the event industry in the years ahead. In terms of breakdancing, on the other hand, he’s decided to hang up the parachute pants for good.
