Biography
BFA Illustration, Herron School of Art and Design, Indiana University, 2004. MFA Visual Studies, Pacific Northwest College of Art, 2016. Amory balances teaching full time with commercial illustration and a successful studio practice. He has upheld a 10+ year illustration practice with clients including Penguin Books, Authorhouse, and ALPHA Books, and is represented by Russo Lee Gallery in Portland, Oregon. His recent studio work explores the theme of darkness shared by American Romanticism, Black Metal, epic fantasy, and Dark Ecology, using charcoal to create large-scale landscapes that are melancholy wanderings through enchanted lands full of wonder, isolation, and ruin.
