Biography
Gail Noonan is an independent animator who has completed seven films since graduating from Emily Carr in 1989. Her films encompass a wide range of animation methods from traditional cel, drawing, cutouts and plasticine to more experimental stop motion and pixilation techniques. The themes of her films are equally diverse including homelessness, feminism and the foibles of human behaviour. All of her films have been screened internationally and won awards. Along with her own practice Gail has also programmed animation screenings, conducted workshops and participated on juries for grants and scholarships. She served on the board of Cineworks Society of Independent Filmmakers from 2003 to 2006 and on the selection committee for the Victoria Film Festival from 2004 to 2010. Currently she is exploring a new interest in songwriting combined with experimental animation.
