Biography
Jonathan Tammuz obtained a BSc. in psychology from Brunel University and was trained as a therapist at the Tavistock Clinic in London. He attended the National Film & TV School in England as a directing student. After graduating in 1987, Jonathan line-produced STREETS OF YESTERDAY for Channel 4 TV and directed THE CHILDEATER, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film in 1990. Jonathan directed dramatic and documentary projects for Channel 4, NHK, & Showtime. He also directed 2 theatrical features: Minotaur (1996), and RUPERT'S LAND (1998) which won 6 Leo Awards and received 5 Genie nominations. At present, Jonathan is developing MINER, a comedic drama set in Wales. Jonathan has been teaching film production and directing and has run actors workshops in Canada, Britain and Europe. Jonathan Tammuz currently lives in Vancouver, BC with his wife Lib Stephen, a screenwriter and children's books illustrator, and their 2 children.
