Biography
Julie York is a sculptor who works in traditional craft materials with non-traditional approaches. Her recent works are based on ideas related to perception. She received a BFA from Emily Carr and an MFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY. Her work has been included in numerous exhibitions and galleries including the Garth Clark Gallery in New York and Perimeter Gallery in Chicago. York is also the recipient of a number of grants including a Pew Fellowship in the Arts, a Window of Opportunity Grant from the Leeway Foundation, and two Creative Production Grants from the Canada Council. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Huston Museum, the Schein Joseph International Museum of Art, the Burchfield Penny Art Center and major private collections.
