Adrian Lobontiu

Biography

Dr. Lobontiu joined EGS in 2005 and was based in Paris, France where he managed the company’s European business at EndoGastric Solutions Europe. To date, he has performed or provided device operation support for more than 1,000 TIF procedures. In 2012, he joined the U.S. team as the worldwide Medical Director. Dr. Lobontiu has more than 18 years of experience in surgical practice and 15 years of experience in the medical device industry. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Surgeons (SAGES) and a member of the French Surgery Association (AFC). From 1999-2005 he was Clinical Director at Intuitive Surgical Europe (NASDAQ – ISRG) where he introduced the company’s revolutionary technology to Europe, obtained CE mark before FDA approval and initiated the world’s first robotic surgical procedures. His career also includes research management roles in pharmaceutical companies such as Schering AG in Berlin, Germany. He practiced surgery at Henri Mondor University Hospital in Paris, France. Internationally published and an invited speaker at international conferences and congresses, Dr. Lobontiu earned his MD from the University of Medicine Targu-Mures Medical School, and his Specialty in Surgery from Pierre et Marie Curie University of Medicine in Paris, France.
