Biography
Dr. Georgeta Vaidean joined the School of Pharmacy in January 2014. As Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Dr. Vaidean teaches patient communication and epidemiology-related courses. In addition, she is involved in collaborative work with all faculty to advance the teaching and scholarship agenda of the school. Dr. Vaidean received her M.D. degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and her M.P.H. degree in Health Promotion and Health Education from the University of South Carolina. Dr. Vaidean received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology, with a concentration in Cardiovascular Epidemiology, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Vaidean has rich experience in teaching epidemiology, research methods and evidence based medicine to medical, physician assistant, pharmacy and Master’s degree students. More recently, she added to her teaching portfolio on topics such as cultural competence, empathy and compassion, emotional intelligence and creativity. Prior to joining FDU, Dr. Vaidean was involved in a variety of research projects including landmark studies such as BRFSS, Lipid Research Clinics, ARIC, WHI studies as well as a multitude of clinical research studies. Through her previous experiences, Dr. Vaidean spent time refining leadership skills through several opportunities, such as leading teams responsible for the implementation of several clinical trials in a research setting, functioning as a departmental chair and directing a school-wide student research program in an educational setting.
