Biography
Jim operates Scattered Acres Farms Ltd., which consists of 3680 acres south of Foremost, AB along with son Craig who has his own company and farms 2700 acres. Crops we seed here are Spring Wheat, Peas, Lentils, Durum, Barley, Canola. We farm in the Brown soil zone of Southeastern part of Alberta. Crop Insurance average yields are 32 bushels on spring wheat re-crop. Jim has seen lot’s of changes over the 40+ years he has been farming, going from 1/2 farming to full direct seed with the air drill, gps, and autosteer. During his career, he has also witnessed the introduction of different crops such as Peas & Lentils, Canola. A few years ago Jim tried using the exhaust emissions thru the air tank into the ground with no fertilizer, and found that they needed to add a little extra fertilizer. He also uses different bio-products on his seed and in his spray program.
