Biography
Mr. Bennett’s career with the Fortis Group spans more than a decade. He was Vice President of Operations Support, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for the FortisBC Group of Companies. Mr. Bennett joined the Fortis organization in 2004 and was appointed General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of FortisBC Inc. in 2005. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of FortisBC, and also assumed the role of Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for FortisBC Holdings and FortisBC Energy. Previously, Mr. Bennett was in private practice in British Columbia as well as in London, England working for a large international law firm focusing on capital market transactions. He earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Victoria and is called to the Bar in British Columbia and Newfoundland and Labrador. Mr. Bennett serves on the Boards of CH Energy and FortisOntario, both Fortis utilities.
