Biography
Dr. Heather Van Haren grew up on a farm in central Alberta. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The King’s University in Edmonton. She graduated as a Dean’s Honour student from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. During her studies, she completed an ocular disease externship in Alabama, focusing on diseases of the retina and the optic nerve. She also completed clinical rotations in Northwestern Ontario, where she enjoyed kayaking on the lakes of the Canadian Shield; and in Canmore, where she enjoyed skiing in the Rocky Mountains. Dr. Van Haren has volunteered to help provide access to vision care in both Ghana and Peru. She is looking forward to providing eye care to patients of all ages in the Peace Country, and exploring as much of this beautiful area as she can.
