Stephen K. Carlisle

Biography

Mr. Stephen K. Carlisle, also known as Steve, has been the President and Managing Director of General Motors of Canada Limited since November 20, 2014 and also served as its Sales Chief. Mr. Carlisle served as the Vice President of Global Product Planning at General Motors Company. He served as GM Vice President of Global Product Planning and Program Management at General Motors of Canada Limited since June 2010. He served as Vice President of US Sales Operations at General Motors North America, Inc. since March 1, 2010. He served as the President at Tri Citi Automotive Warehouse Inc. and Chevrolet (Thailand) Co., Ltd. He served as Program Planning Director for the Midsize Truck Vehicle Line Executive Team, located in Pontiac, Michigan since 1996. He was an Assistant Planning Director for General Motors Truck Group in 1997. He was Group Director of planning for the Truck Group in 1999, following his Sloan fellowship. He served as the President of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations Limited and served as its Managing Director from 2007 to 2010. He served as the President of General Motors (Thailand) Ltd. (GM Thailand) for General Motors Company from July 1, 2007 to March 2010 and served as its Managing Director since July 1, 2007. Mr. Carlisle served as the Head of Thailand and Southeast Asia at Motors Liquidation Company (formerly known as General Motors Corporation) until July 2009. He served as Vice President of product planning and General Manager of Asia Pacific at General Motors Corporation since November 1, 2002. He had responsibility for GM's product and powertrain planning activities in the region in addition to coordination of research and development initiatives in Asia Pacific. His main focus was on developing a portfolio of products that would allow GM to significantly expand its presence in Asia in line with aggressive expectations for growth. He began his career with GM as a co-op student in industrial engineering at the Oshawa Truck Assembly Center in 1982. His first full-time assignment was in advanced manufacturing engineering, also in Oshawa, starting in 1986. Subsequently, he held positions in materials management before moving to the former Chevrolet-Pontiac-GM of Canada group in Warren, Michigan, in 1991 on a special assignment focused on product simplification. He also had an assignment in advanced product engineering before being appointed director of the GM decision support center in 1995. He served as an Executive Director of program management for GM North America in 2001. Mr. Carlisle served as an Executive Director of General Motors Company since June 1, 2007 and General Motors Southeast Asia Operations Limited since July 1, 2007. He received a Bachelor's of applied science degree in systems design engineering from the University of Waterloo in 1986. Mr. Carlisle earned a Master's degree in business administration from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1999.
