Luis Canepari is a visionary mining technology leader who has shaped Goldcorp to be the primary catalyst in revolutionizing the mining industry. He adopts disruptive technologies that are igniting Goldcorp’s shift into the digital generation and fosters advancements in the industry through the #DisruptMining innovation competition (www.goldcorp.com). Luis created Goldcorp’s Digital Transformation Strategy, rethinking the entire mining life cycle to unlock productivity with integrated digital solutions and other innovative technologies to protect workers, reduce costs and optimize all aspects of the business. His innovations are helping Goldcorp to execute their 20/20/20 Strategy to increase reserves and production while decreasing all-in sustaining costs by 20% over five years. Luis equips Goldcorp’s portfolio of gold mines with a strong, reliable technological backbone, enabling digital expansion and investing in exciting advances such as artificial intelligence to improve exploration potential, remotely-monitored autonomous equipment and machinery, augmented-reality holographic displays to enable machine operators to communicate and collaborate from remote locations, cloud computing and mobile solutions such as digital employee tracking technology, and sensor-based monitoring systems.  On a global scale, Luis has deployed Goldcorp’s multi-year SAP ERP template encompassing several cloud systems, developed a cyber security and disaster recovery strategy and completely revamped the firm’s technology infrastructure, intranet and records management systems.
