Biography

Mr. Munro founded Halifax Biomedical Inc. in October 2004 bringing experience in management, medical device manufacturing, medical device development and product development methodologies, IP evaluation and protection strategies, as well as a Masters in Biomedical Engineering focusing on Roentgen Stereophotogrammetric Analysis of Orthopedic implants. Mr. Munro graduated from the Technical University of Nova Scotia in 1998 in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Biomedical Engineering. He then worked as a product development engineer for three years at Synthes-Stratec Inc., a leading International Orthopaedics company, located in Switzerland. At Synthes, Mr. Munro’s focus was in the application of QFD in product development, production optimization, and patent analysis and development. Mr. Munro completed four international PCT patent applications as the primary inventor during his time with Synthes. In 2002, he returned to Dalhousie University to attain a Masters of Science in Biomedical Engineering. His thesis focused on improving the surgical instrumentation, analysis technique, and kinematics descriptor for Roentgen Stereophotogrammetric Analysis (RSA), a stereo imaging x-ray technique. After completing his MSc. degree in October 2004, Mr. Munro began working as a biomedical engineering consultant, establishing Halifax Biomedical in October 2004.
