Biography
Don MacDonald is Senior Vice-President, General Counsel, Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer for IGM Financial Inc. In that capacity, Don is responsible for overseeing the legal, compliance and corporate secretarial functions of Mackenzie, Investors Group and Investment Planning Counsel. With 20 years of legal experience at Investors Group, Don is a highly experienced legal counsel with a specialties in securities and corporate law. Previously, Don worked for The Manitoba Securities Commission. His counsel is highly sought out due to his strong business approach blended with a comprehensive knowledge of the law. Don was called to the Bar in Manitoba in 1984 and has a law degree from the University of Manitoba law school. In 2013, he was honoured with the Western Canada General Counsel Lifetime Achievement Award which speaks to his expertise and impact in the legal community. Further, Don is very active on several community boards, including Sport Manitoba Inc. and CancerCare Manitoba.
