Biography
Jean-François Desautels has been Senior Vice President of the Quebec Division of Intact Insurance since 2014. Mr. Desautels began his career in the insurance industry as a broker. He later joined Royal & Sun Alliance (RSA) where he worked in various roles in business development, underwriting and operational management. After joining Intact Insurance in 2003, he held a number of management positions in Business Development and Claims. In 2006, Mr. Desautels became Vice President of Personal Lines Underwriting for Quebec and Ontario at belairdirect. More recently, Jean-François was a Regional Vice President with Intact Insurance, developing solid expertise in managing relations with the brokerage network. In addition to his operational planning and management duties, he played an active role in integrating the business of AXA Canada and Jevco into Intact’s operations in Quebec. Mr. Desautels holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the École des sciences de la gestion, part of the Université du Québec à Montréal. He has also completed the Executive Development Course and the Advanced Management Course at the McGill Executive Institute. He has recently become Chairman of the Board of the Insurance Bureau of Canada’s Quebec division. He is also on the Board of the Coalition pour la promotion des professions en assurance de dommages (Damage Insurance Coalition).
