Biography
Karim Hirji was appointed Senior Vice President, International & Ventures in October 2015. In this role, Mr. Hirji is responsible for IFC's international expansion efforts, as well as deploying capital to expand IFC’s core competencies and invest in new ventures. As part of his mandate, Mr. Hirji has been leading the advancement of products and partnerships within the sharing economy. Mr. Hirji joined the company in 2001 in Vancouver where he worked in both personal lines and commercial lines underwriting management. In 2005, he moved to Toronto and assumed leadership roles in corporate commercial lines, finance and most recently in distribution as Regional Vice-President for Intact Insurance. Mr. Hirji has an Executive MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance (Honours) from the University of British Columbia and is a Chartered Insurance Professional.
