Biography

"Carla Smith was appointed Senior Vice President, Corporate Development in May 2017. In this role, Ms Smith is responsible for all the mergers and acquisitions activities within the company. Prior to this appointment, Ms Smith has held roles such as Deputy Senior Vice President, Claims Ontario, responsible for Intact Financial Corporation’s claims operations throughout Ontario, and Deputy Senior Vice President of Sales & Operations for belairdirect nationally. Ms. Smith’s career with Intact began in Vancouver in 1999. Since then she has held a broad range of roles across the organization within Intact Insurance and belairdirect. She has also had a leading role on several key strategic initiatives including the integration of Grey Power as well as the acquisition and integration of Canadian Direct Insurance. Ms Smith is a Chartered Insurance Professional and holds a Global Professional Master of Laws from the University of Toronto, a Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from Simon Fraser University."
