Biography
Dr. Adam received his BSc (2007) and MD (2011) degrees from the University of Alberta. He subsequently completed residency training in Anatomical Pathology at the University of Alberta and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2016. He completed subspecialty training in Renal Pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital, Thoracic Pathology at Toronto General Hospital, and Transplantation Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is currently an Anatomical Pathologist at the University of Alberta Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. Dr. Adam's research and publication history has primarily focused on molecular transplantation pathology. His current research interests include the use of state-of-the-art gene expression technologies to diagnose and assess allograft rejection, infection, and ex vivo perfusion-related injury/repair. The ultimate goal of this work is to develop more precise diagnostic tools that will facilitate the delivery of personalized medicine. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed abstracts and 20 journal articles and has traveled throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East to present his research. In 2015, he received the American Transplant Congress Young Investigator Award for his work.
