Research Interest

Dr. Corcos was the head of the department of Urology at the Jewish General Hospital from 1990 until 2010. He continues to be a member of the department, and has become much more personally involved in research, with a particular emphasis on bladder dysfunction. His clinical involvement in bladder dysfunction and reconstruction began at the outset of his practice in 1985 and he has garnered national and international recognition in this field. He is the lead author of the Canadian Urological Association’s guidelines for incontinence, has published extensively in this field, and was the Secretary General of the International Continence Society from 2008 to 2011, of which he is now an honorary member. He collaborates closely with the School of Polytechnique with whom he published several articles and obtained two patents related to bladder assessment equipment. Presently, he is working with them on the development of a new artificial sphincter which is undergoing animal testing. Since 2006, has been working in collaboration with Dr. Jacques Galipeau to acquire additional skills and knowledge in stem cell research. He has published several papers and abstracts in the field during the past few years, among which was a poster that was awarded “best basic science research communication” at the Society for Urodynamic and Female Urology (SUFU) in 2009.
