Biography
David F. Mercer, MD, PhD received his Doctor of Medicine with Distinction and a Ph.D. in Experimental Surgery from the University of Alberta. Dr. Mercer has won several academic awards, and has received recognition for research at both the local and national level, including the Canadian Association of General Surgeons National Research Award (2000). While completing his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Development of an Animal Model of Hepatitis C", Dr. Mercer was a clinical Fellow of Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research.
