Biography
Karl Fischer is a senior research associate in Dr. Lorne Tyrrell's laboratory. He has made several seminal discoveries in the field of viral hepatitis, particularly related to HBV and its response to antiviral therapy. His work on lamivudine resistance in duck hepatitis B virus was the first report of hepadnavirus resistance to lamivudine and predicted the problems of lamivudine resistance later to be confirmed in lamivudine-treated patients.
