Biography
Randall Kober holds a Bachelor of Arts (History) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master of Architecture from the University of of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). In Chicago he taught design, history/theory, and fabrication classes at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), UIC, and Archeworks. He served as lead professor for UIC's program abroad in the historic center of Rome and IIT's program abroad in central Paris. He has been a visiting critic in Europe and the USA. Randall spent many years working with Douglas Garofalo at Garofalo Architects in Chicago. They produced experimental work balancing avant-garde design aesthetics and attitudes with craft and emerging technologies. In 2004 Kober founded Anarchitectures as collaborative practice exploring the space between art, architecture, and construction. Before joining the architecture faculty at Laurentian he had been living in and working with the medieval building fabric of Dinkelsbühl, Germany. He is a trained carpenter experienced in framing and finish work in both Europe and the USA. Randall was born and raised in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
