Biography
Initially trained in kinesiology at Laval University, Ariane Bélanger-Gravel quickly became interested in the motivational aspects associated with changes in lifestyle. In fact, why do individuals not change their bad habits, despite the abundance of information on health and even the presence of a health issue? How is it that a person who has a strong motivation to quit smoking continues this habit for years? How can we effectively promote an active lifestyle among the population? All these questions prompted Ariane Bélanger-Gravel to better understand these phenomena and have led her to pursue graduate studies in the field of behavioral sciences. In her research, she focuses on understanding and promoting different health-promoting behaviors. She is also interested in the evaluation of individual or societal interventions such as health promotion communication campaigns. Improving the health of the population is, without a doubt, its main professional interest. Passionate about acquiring new knowledge in behavioral sciences, the transfer of these knowledge to the practice environments represents an important lever for societal change. The challenge? Make an interdisciplinary bridge between public communication, social advertising and the various health disciplines from which it is derived!
