Biography
With his sonorous laugh and his beard of Santa Claus, Claude Cossette has everything of a personage of legend. His legend comes from his seven lives, lived with constant energy. The man is a curious insatiable, a solidary humanist and an indefatigable innovator. No wonder then that he had accumulated the first: the first advertising agency in Quebec, the first social advertising teacher, the first comprehensive study on image communication (The Cleansing Images), the first fully online course (ComViz), etc. . The career of Claude Cossette is thrilling: at 12 years, he painted his first poster for his father shoemaker. Then, the teenager becomes apprentice to a manufacturer of signs ... while continuing its classical course. The scholar then entered the Fine Arts. Hardly out, he is engaged as advertising designer, but bored very quickly. He then trained as a teacher, then obtained a scholarship of advanced training: direction, the famous Higher School of arts and graphic techniques in Paris! Upon his return, he founded the Cossette agency, which he chaired until it became the largest advertising agency in Quebec. He then left her to devote herself full-time to teaching. First at the School of Visual Arts where, program director, he wants to sensitize designers to communication and then to the Department where he develops the teaching of social advertising. His style appeals to students who often give him the prize for the best teacher. He is currently working on setting up a school agency within the University. Canada awarded it the Gold Medal Award, the highest decoration in the advertising industry. Challengingly provocative, Claude Cossette likes to "take the opposite" in his environment; he publishes professional books which are sometimes critical. He hated corporatism, preferred to defend the cause of the marginalized; it continues to volunteer its expert advice to dozens of social organizations.
