Biography
Ask him to tell you about his career, and Henri Assogba will reply to you, smiling in a corner, that he has "a banal atypical career path" made of bridges between professional life and university training. From his native Benin, Henry Assogba often left. He who today defines himself as a "citizen of the world" has successively put his bags in Senegal, Egypt, France and now in Quebec. Already holding a master's degree in geography and spatial planning before entering a school of journalism, Henri Assogba "naturally" specialized in environment. And in the practice of his profession (more than seven years of journalistic practice), he feels that environmental issues are a poor parent in dealing with current affairs. Hence a first need to empirically verify this impression and then, in a second step, to try to understand its reasons. The deepening of his research is concretized by obtaining a Doctorate in Information and Communication Sciences in Lyon (France). Henri Assogba is a regular researcher at the CRICIS research center and an associate member of the Lyon Research Team in Information and Communication Sciences ( ÉLICO ). He is also a member of the International Research and Studies Group on Radio ( GRER ). In parallel to his research, Henri Assogba was introduced to teaching at the university. His first experiences, "very enriching", incite him to continue in this noble way of "perpetual learner". For him, teaching is about listening to students and identifying their needs in order to better accompany them. The big challenge, in his eyes, is to arrive at a collaborative approach to the personal investment of each student. From Henri Assogba's nonlinear path, a common thread has remained constant: his interest in environmental themes seen through the lens of general media, especially radio.
