Biography

Her arrival in Quebec, she owes it paradoxically to a certain Marie-France, who sent her to convey boats to the West Indies. Only a certain melodic curve is left of his native Switzerland. and the taste of chocolate. Her surname, Clerc, predestined her to literature and writing. Isabelle Clerc has always lived in the world of words, whether as a freelancer, author or teacher. Her academic life split into two stages: in the first she created the professional writing programs and directed them. In the second phase, which corresponds to her arrival at the Department, she developed research with the Writing Group, created seminars on communicative effectiveness in writing and gave undergraduate writing courses. Between the two, she was Associate Dean of Education at the Faculty of Arts where she was responsible for the reconfiguration of undergraduate programs. Its guiding principle, whether as a professor, a researcher or a director, is due to its desire to see the written communications understood by the readers. Her research, especially for the government, led her to study upstream the transmitter and the production chain and, downstream, the readers and the factors that impede understanding.
