Pierre Brisson

Biography

Radio is all his life. For 35 years, Pierre Brisson worked at Radio-Canada as an editor, journalist, assignor and head of a desk. Even though he left the grand tower on René-Lévesque Boulevard in Montreal, he did not leave the radio. His passion for the job, he now transmits to the next generation. A lecturer in the Department since the fall of 2011, Pierre Brisson began his teaching career 10 years earlier at the Université de Montréal. He has always had the training of new journalists at heart. While interns and journalism fellows visiting Radio-Canada were poorly supervised, Pierre Brisson participated in the creation of a concrete training program for newcomers. On the menu: revision of journalistic standards, tour of the tower, gradual integration into the newsroom. In addition, he has just signed the chapter on the radio of a new book for future journalists: Journalistic writing in all its forms . For Pierre Brisson, teaching is synonymous with questioning and reflection time. "It is necessary to move away from production to reflect and experiment with new things. The unavoidable declination of an event on several platforms is currently fueling this reflection. He is very happy to contribute to the success of his students. "The pinnacle is to see former students succeed and break into the business, to see their name at the bottom of a text or to hear their voice in a report. Having a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in political science, Pierre Brisson would like to focus more on one aspect of journalistic work, namely the decision making that takes place at various stages of the editorial process.
