Michael R. Burns

Biography

Mr. Michael R. Burns served as the Managing Director and Head of Los Angeles Investment Banking Office at Prudential Securities Inc. from 1991 to March 2000. While at Prudential, Mr. Burns specialized in raising equity within the media and entertainment industry. Prior to joining Prudential, he worked nine years at Shearson Lehman Brothers (now Citigroup Smith Barney) in New York and Los Angeles. He co-founded Hollywood Stock Exchange LLC in April 1996. He co-founded Novica.com. He served as Managing Member of Cerulean Colorization, LLC. Mr. Burns serves as the Chairman of Ignite Entertainment. He serves as the Chairman of Novica.com. He has been Vice Chairman of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. since March 21, 2000 and has been its Director since August 1999. He serves as Vice Chairman of Lions Gate Films Inc. and Lions Gate UK Limited. He has been an Independent Director at Hasbro Inc. since December 2014. He has played a key role in the acquisition, production and distribution of some of Lionsgate's most successful films, including the Best Picture Academy Award® -winning Crash (2006), the Oscar® - winning Monster's Ball and the creation of the Saw horror franchise. He served as Director of CinemaNow Inc., and The Harvey Entertainment Company. Mr. Burns graduated with a B.S. from Arizona State University and received his M.B.A. from the John E. Anderson Graduate School of Management at the University of California at Los Angeles.
