Biography
Colette Foisy-Doll, RN, MSN, CHSE has devoted the past 30-plus years to nursing education with a 20-year focus on leading simulation-based learning programs and space development. Colette currently holds the positions of professional resource faculty with the Faculty of Nursing and acting coordinator for the Clinical Simulation Centre at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. She was one of the first in Canada to pioneer simulation in undergraduate nursing education in the late 90s. Over the years, she has served as a consultant in the development of more than 20 simulation programs locally, nationally, and internationally.
Research Interest
Colette's passions include empowering educators to facilitate simulation through faculty development, designing simulation using best practices for optimal student-centered learning, and interprofessional education (IPE) for undergraduate healthcare programs. She has collaborated on a large multi-institutional research and IPE project in Edmonton for the past seven years. Other research initiatives include the validation and psychometric analysis of a new tool (SCORS: Simulation Culture Organizational Readiness for Simulation), as well as the use of andragogical principles to support the diverse needs of learners in simulation-based learning. She is currently co-editing and authoring a new textbook with Dr. Kim Leighton titled Simulation Champions: Courage, Caring and Connection to be released June 2017.
