Donna Jamieson

Biography

Donna Jamieson is an assistant professor with and chair of the Bachelor of Child and Youth Care Department at MacEwan University. She was the program supervisor for an Alberta government program that provided assessment and intervention for “high risk” families for nearly twenty years. In this role, she provided consultation, supervision and training to staff and other professionals, as well as direct assessment and intervention to families. She also developed and delivered a variety of treatment groups for families where abuse or neglect was a concern. Later she managed a team of multi-disciplinary regional consultants who provided consultation and parenting capacity assessments of complex families involved with Human Services. Ms. Jamieson became a registered psychologist (now retired) and a certified child and youth care counsellor in the early 1980s. She is committed to the advancement of the child and youth care field. A regular columnist for the Relational Journal of Child and Youth Care Practice, she co-edited a textbook, Standing on the Precipice: Inquiry into the creative potential of child and youth care practice, and she presents at numerous conferences and workshops. In 2012, she was awarded the Child and Youth Care Counsellor of the Year Award in recognition of her work with Alberta children, youth and families; and with the child and youth care profession.
