Margaret Mykietyshyn

Biography

Margaret began her career in Early Learning and Child Care when she graduated from Grant MacEwan Community College’s Early Childhood Development program in 1982. Upon graduation she worked in a vocational college day care for two years and then served as a director in a first nations daycare centre just outside of the city of Edmonton. Drawing on this experience Margaret returned to Grant MacEwan as an employee and has worked in a number of positions from front line early learning educator in the Demonstration Child Care to instructional assistant in both the ECD and CYC programs. Margaret is currently a full time instructor in the Early Learning and Care Program. She has been employed at MacEwan in these various positions since 1986. 

Research Interest

Margaret’s academic interests are curriculum for infants and toddlers and the role of relationship in learning. Inspired by early learning programs and approaches from all over the world Margaret is currently interested in how we can incorporate the richness of these programs into our North American culture. Her current involvement in the development of an Alberta curriculum for early learning and child care supports her in her ultimate goal of teaching early learning educators to provide innovative and meaningful learning opportunities to young children in Alberta.
