Warren Alfred Thomson

Biography

Mr. Warren Alfred Thomson serves as a Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company. Mr. Thomson has been Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Manulife Financial Corporation since May 2009. He served as Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President of Manulife Asset Management. He was responsible for Manulife Asset Management’s fixed income and equity security management subsidiaries debt and mortgages for John Hancock. He had oversight of Manulife Real Estate, Declaration Management & Research LLC, Hancock Timber Resource Group Inc., Hancock Agricultural Investment Group and NAL Resources Limited. He was responsible for overseeing the management of all US fixed income portfolios, including public bonds, private 1994 and Senior Vice President of Investments since 2001. Prior to this, he was responsible for overseeing the management of all U.S. fixed income portfolios, including public bonds, private debt and mortgages at John Hancock. Mr. Thomson started his career in public accounting. He served as Executive Vice President of Global Investment Management and US Investments and U S Investments & Global Investment Management at Manulife Financial Corporation.

Mr. Thomson serves as Chairman of MFC Global Investment Management at Manulife Financial Corporation. He serves as Chairman of John Hancock Asset Management. He served as Vice Chairman of MFC Global Investment Management at Manulife Financial Corporation. He has been Non-Independent Trustee of John Hancock Hedged Equity & Income Fund and John Hancock Premium Dividend Fund since 2012. He serves as a Trustee of John Hancock funds and its fund complex. He served as a Director at Manulife Asset Management Limited since October 2006. He served as a Director of Manulife Mutual Funds. He served as Director of Elliott & Page Limited. He served as a Director of Canaccord Genuity Group Inc and Hancock John Variable Life Insurance Co. He served as Director of NAL Resources Management Limited from December 2001 to May 2004 and also from October 2006 to January 2009. He served as Director of NAL Energy Corporation from December 2001 to January 2009. Mr. Thomson holds his Chartered Accountant designation from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto
