Biography
Rob was born and raised in Peace River, he received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law (LL B) degrees from the University of Alberta. Rob was called to the Alberta bar in 1999 after articling to the Honourable Judge D.R. Shynkar. While practicing with Mathieu Hryniuk LLP from 1999 to 2010 Robert was the standing agent for the Attorney General of Canada. During that time Robert gained extensive experience with major drug and tax prosecutions. Robert is primarily a criminal trial lawyer and does some appeal work. He has successfully defended clients charged with murder, robbery, aggravated assault, sexual assault, fraud, drug trafficking, and all other forms of serious offences. His practice also extends to Occupation Health and Safety offences and environmental charges. Rob is a member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association. Since 2014 he has been a member of the Legal Aid Appeal Committee which considers appeals from persons denied coverage for legal services. Robert has been a principal of and mentor to articling students and young lawyers. Outside of the legal profession Robert and his wife, Raelene, are actively involved in the pursuits of their two children, including: members of Peace Region Dance Society, Peace River Minor Hockey, Peace River Porpoises swim club and Peace River ski club. Rob appreciates that those charged with criminal offences incur personal, professional and financial stress. He brings his experience and diligence to each individual situation.
