Jane E. Pagel

Biography

Dr. Jane E. Pagel, B.Sc., D.Bact., M.Sc., served as the Chief Executive Officer and President at Ontario Clean Water Agency since November 1, 2010 until 2014. Dr. Pagel served as an Acting Chief Executive Officer of Sustainable Development Technology Canada since June 2014 until June 2015 and served as its Acting President. Dr. Pagel served as Principal of management consulting firm Johnston Smith International Ltd. She served as Vice President of Corporate and Government Affairs of Philip Services Corp. She served as President of Zenon Environmental Laboratories and Head of the Environmental Sciences Department at the former Ontario Hydro.  She has been the Chair of BluMetric Environmental Inc. since September 1, 2017 and served as its Acting Interim Chair from March 29, 2017 to September 1, 2017. She served as Chairperson of University of Toronto's Innovation Foundation, the Canadian Council for Human Resources in the Environment Industry (now Eco Canada) and Ontario Centre for Environmental Technology Advancement (OCETA) board. She has been Independent Director at BluMetric Environmental Inc. since February 3, 2014. She has been a Director of Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. since February 24, 2016. Dr. Pagel serves as an External Independent Director of Maxxam Analytics, Inc. She serves as a Director for WaterTAP. She serves as a Member of Prime Minister's Advisory Council on Science and Technology. Dr. Pagel is active on a number of boards and committees within the science, technology and environmental fields. She served as a Director of Sustainable Development Technology Canada. Dr. Pagel holds a B.Sc., D.Bact. and M.Sc. in microbiology from the University of Toronto and a Ph.D. from Columbia Pacific University in the United States.
