Biography
Christian Meighen is a partner in Montréal and is the Practice Group Leader for the national tax practice. His practice focuses on corporate tax and tax planning. Mr. Meighen advises on the tax aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and national and international corporate reorganizations. He is also experienced in the tax aspects of restructuring corporations in financial difficulty. Mr. Meighen has acted for large corporations, both Canadian and foreign, on general corporate tax issues, and on mergers and acquisitions both domestic and cross-border level. Mr. Meighen is listed in the latest edition of The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a repeatedly recommended lawyer in corporate tax. Furthermore, he has lectured at the HEC Montréal Law Faculty of Université de Montréal in the Master of Laws (taxation) program since 2003. He is a frequent speaker on tax matters at conferences and seminars and has authored or co-authored articles and presentations for various organisations such as the Association de planification fiscale et financière (APFF) and the Canadian Tax Foundation. Mr. Meighen is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation, of the APFF, and of the Canadian Bar Association. Mr. Meighen completed his law degree at the Université Laval in 1996 and his Masters in taxation at the Université de Montréal in 2000. He was called to the Québec bar in 1998.
