Biography
David E. Platts is a partner in our Litigation Group in Montréal and the firm's Chief Inclusion Officer. His practice focuses on a variety of civil and administrative law matters. Mr. Platts has considerable experience in defence-side medical malpractice, professional negligence and disciplinary law cases. In addition, he practises commercial and intellectual property litigation. He appears as a leading lawyer in corporate and commercial litigation in the current editions of Best Lawyers in Canada. He is also listed in the latest edition of The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, a guide to the leading law firms and practitioners in Canada, as a leading lawyer in the area of medical negligence – represent defendants. Mr. Platts obtained his bachelor of arts (with distinction) from the University of Calgary in 1986 and attended law school at McGill University. He received his BCL and LLB degrees in 1990, and was called to the Québec bar in 1991. He was a law clerk to Mr. Justice Peter Cory at the Supreme Court of Canada before returning to private practice.
