Ghyslaine Mcclure
Professor
Civil Engineering
McGill University
Canada
Biography
Professor McClure joined McGill in 1991 after five years of professional practice in transmission line engineering. She has more than 25 years of experience in structural dynamics and advanced computational solid mechanics research. One of her two main research axes of the last 15 years relates to realistic assessment and improvement of post-earthquake functionality of buildings. She is among the founding members, and current Chair of the technical committee of the Canadian Standard CSA S832 on Seismic risk reduction of operational and functional components (OFCs) of buildings. Her research group is focused on developing seismic functionality assessment methods adapted to existing post-critical buildings (schools, hospitals and community centres designated as emergency shelters) and making use of ambient vibration measurements. Her second main current research axis relates to the computational investigation of wind-structure interaction problems. She is also serving the University in the role of Associate Provost, Academic Personnel and Priority initiatives since August 2013.
Research Interest
1.Security of high voltage overhead transmissions against accidental loads 2.Seismic vulnerability and risk of operational and functional components in buildings 3.Wood connections and entire wood light-frame building response to wind 4.System identification of building structures using ambient vibration measurements
