Maryam Tabrizian
Professor
Biomedical Engineering
McGill University
Canada
Biography
Professor, Biomedical Engineering Professor, Faculty of Dentistry Associate Member, Montreal Heart Institute Associate Member, Sainte-Justine Hospital
Research Interest
Dr. Tabrizian's research programme is focused on surface and biointerface, and the modification of the biomaterials surface to make them more attractive for biological environment. The surface modifications are mostly based on biological and chemical methods to improve the biointerface interactions at cellar and/or molecular levels. This involves the following ongoing projects: Study and characterization of cell-biomaterial interactions LbL self-assembly systems as an efficient surface modification methodology Nanostructured interface by surface molecular engineering, nanolithography and nanopatterning for biorecognition systems Nanostructured platforms for gene/protein therapy and tissue engineering Characterization of biomaterials debris in biological tissues Real-time monitoring of cellular activities Polymer synthesis and characterization Advanced surface technologies
