Biography
In 1997, Dr. Götte obtained his Ph.D. degree at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biochemistry in Martinsried, Germany. He started his independent research in 2001 following a three-year period of postdoctoral training at the Lady Davis Institute for Medical Research at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. Dr. Götte later joined the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at McGill University, Montreal, and was promoted to Full Professor in 2011. Results from his laboratory have contributed to the development of novel classes of viral polymerase inhibitors with antiviral activity against drug resistant variants. Dr. Götte has published approximately 100 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters in the field of virology and antivirals. His research program is funded through grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and contracts from industry.
