Judy Wismer

Biography

After completing her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Queen's University Dr. Wismer practiced and taught at the University of Western School of physiotherapy. She lectured extensively during that time to physiotherapists of the Caribbean and was involved in clinical teaching and research. Dr. Wismer graduated from McMaster University Medical School and went on to complete her Dermatology residency training at the University of Toronto in 1993. During her final year, she was chief dermatology resident. In addition to the four-year residency training, Dr. Wismer completed a research year as Fellow of the Dermatology Foundation. Since starting dermatology practice in 1994, Dr. Wismer has been actively involved in clinical dermatology, teaching and research. She has lectured extensively to practicising physicians, and has been a passionate teacher of graduate and undergraduate medical students. She was voted Outstanding Clinical Mentor in 2001. Dr. Wismer is currently the Head of the Division of Dermatology in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. She sits on the Council of Medicine and is head of the Graduate and Undergraduate teaching at McMaster Medical School. Dr. Wismer collaborates with other physicians in a clinic once weekly at McMaster University Health Science Centre in a tertiary care, teaching based dermatology clinic.
