Biography
Ani Markova is a member of the AGF Resources team and the portfolio manager of AGF Precious Metals Fund in Canada and Smith & Williamson Global Gold and Resources Fund in the UK. She combines a top-down approach to asset and sector allocation with a bottom-up approach to individual stock selection, focusing on companies that possess quality assets, strong management and can deliver shareholder value in the mining sector. She has been twice the recipient of the Mining Journal’s Portfolio Manager of the Year award in addition to Lipper awards for 3 and 5 year performance. Ani Markova has more than 18 years of investment industry experience. Before joining AGF in 2003, Ani conducted research for Canadian brokerages covering the merchandising and consumer products sectors. Since joining AGF, she has worked on a Balanced Fund platform, as well as supported North American portfolios before being promoted to lead Portfolio Manager on the Precious Metals mandates in 2008. Ani has a BA in Management and Marketing from Mount Vernon College in Washington D.C. She earned her MBA in International Business and Finance from George Washington University in Washington D.C. and has her Licensed International Financial Analyst and Chartered Investment Management designations. Ani is a CFA charterholder, a member of the Toronto CFA Society and Institute of Corporate Directors.
