Biography
"Prof. Alan R. Butcher is a geologist by education and an applied mineralogist-petrologist by experience. He has worked in the mining, geoscience and petroleum sectors for over 30 years, and developed mineral- and texture-based technologies for rocks of commercial importance. His experience spans optical, electron, ion, x-ray and laser beam technologies. Alan's current research interests at the Geological Survey of Finland lie in the field of geomaterials, and the use of cross-disciplinary geo-analytical techniques to achieve multi-scale, multi-modal, multi-dimensional information for scientists and engineers alike".
