Biography
Dr. Melanie Rathburn teaches biology courses in the General Science Program. Her scholarly interests are in both biology and teaching and learning. Dr. Rathburn's interests are in ecology and evolution with particular emphasis on sexual selection (mate choice and intrasexual competition). She is currently studying environmental factors that explain amphibian diversity and abundance in Calgary's urban wetlands. Within the scholarship of teaching and learning, Dr. Rathburn is also investigating what strategies can foster intercultural competence among students participating in field school experiences.
