Biography
Ms. Determann has over 20 years’ experience providing legal counseling and leadership in intellectual property, health care law, data privacy, regulatory, corporate governance, commercial contracts, litigation and investigations, employment law and technology transactions. She spent the first ten years of her career managing complex commercial and IP litigation, drafting and negotiating technology transactions for clients in a wide range of industries, and managing patent prosecution and IP portfolios for life science and health care technology clients. In 2008, she joined Genomic Health, a global genomics-based oncology diagnostics company, where she formed the IP, legal and compliance departments and went on to become the Associate General Counsel and Chief Compliance & Privacy Officer. She has served in the roles of General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, Compliance Officer and Data Privacy Officer for several other biotechnology companies and clinical laboratories on the West Coast. She has experience building out and managing legal, IP, contracts, corporate compliance and data privacy programs, both for early start-ups and public life science companies doing business globally. Kathleen earned her JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law, has a BA in Political Science from UCLA, a BS in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Santa Clara University, and is certified in regulatory affairs and health care privacy compliance.
