Biography
Mr. Mertz is the co-founder of Mertz Energy, an oil and gas exploration company in Houston, Texas. In addition, he was Business Development Manager, Oil & Gas, for Amphenol, Inc., and he is an investor and operator of his family’s west Texas ranches. James received his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and received his MBA with Highest Distinction from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and IESE Barcelona. While at Michigan, Mr. Mertz studied in Bulgaria though the Fulbright Program. Prior to his MBA, he had a very successful tenure at Freescale Semiconductor, Inc.
