Biography
Tom Laughren is currently the Director of Corporate Responsibility at Lake Shore Gold Corp. in Timmins, a position he’s held since leaving the Mayor’s seat in the fall of 2014. Tom was elected by acclamation as the ninetieth Mayor of Timmins in November 2006 after having served as a City Councillor from 1994 to 2003 and was re-elected in 2010 to serve his community. Previous to Tom’s tenure as Mayor he worked for the Gorf Group of Companies in the equipment division as a Hoisting Engineer for 26 years – performing various roles, such as heavy equipment operation, maintenance, rentals and quality assurance, to name a few. In addition to his professional life, Tom is a devoted community volunteer. He has been involved with many organizations over the years.
