Biography
General Surgeon Dr. Robert Smith joins NOSM with over 20 years of clinical experience. During his time at the hospital in Sudbury, he sat on a number of committees, including the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) and the Surgical Program Council. Smith has been Chair of the endoscopy utilization committee, and served as Chief of Surgery. A champion for Patient Safety, Smith has recently taken on the position of Medical Lead for Quality Care and Patient Safety within Health Sciences North. Smith supported the introduction of the Surgical Safety Checklist, and was involved in the creation of the Colon Cancer Diagnostic Assessment Program.
