Biography
Mr. Luiz Almeida was born in São Paulo on September 2, 1932. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle, United States. In over 50 years of experience, he has served as CEO for Empreendimentos da Bahia S.A., was in charge of the Development Plan for the Industrial Center of Aratu, and also served as CEO for SIBRA – Eletrosiderúrgica Brasileira S.A. and Vice President for CLAN S.A. – Consultoria e Planejamento, the company that was responsible for the design of the Camaçari Petrochemical Center. Mr. Luiz Almeida was Chief Executive Officer for Stelar Telecom Ltda. (1995 to 1997). At Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, he was Managing Director, and Vice Chief Executive Officer from 1979 to 1987, when he became a member of the Board of Directors, where he stayed in office until 1995. He returned to CNO's Board as consulting advisor in 2005, and occupied this role until 2014. Mr. Luiz Almeida was also a member of the Board of Directors of Tenenge – Técnica Nacional de Engenharia S.A. (1989 to 1995), and was a member of the Board of Companhia Brasileira de Projetos e Obras – CBPO (1991 to 1995). At Odebrecht Investimentos S.A., he was Vice Chief Executive Officer (1981 to 1998) and member of the Board of Directors (from 1991 to 2007). Mr. Luiz Almeida is a member of the Board of Directors of Odebrecht S.A. since 2007 and he is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Odebrecht Foundation since 1993.
