Ewout Heersink

Biography

Ewout was involved in the growth of one of Onex’ most successful companies. When Onex acquired Sky Chefs in 1985, it was a captive caterer to a single airline. When Onex sold Sky Chefs in 2001, it was the largest in-flight caterer in the world, with one-third of the global market. Onex, in conjunction with Sky Chefs’ management, worked to create an additional platform for value creation by building a major presence in the rapidly growing at-home market for prepared meals. Ewout has been with Onex since the Company’s founding in 1984. In May 2010, he was appointed to the Board of Directors and continues to hold the position of Senior Managing Director. In addition, Ewout has had a wide variety of duties related to Onex’ financial management, having held the position of Chief Financial Officer from 1984 until December 2007. Prior to 1984, he was with Gerry Schwartz at CanWest Capital and a Chartered Accountant and consultant at KPMG. Ewout serves on the Advisory Board of the Queen’s University Business School and has been a director of a number of Onex subsidiaries since 1984. Ewout is a Chartered Accountant. He also holds an M.B.A. from Queen’s University and an Honours Business Administration degree from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
